Motorcycle LED Lights Are Now Standard Options

By Michelle Howe

Of course headlights have been around as long as cars and bikes have been but there have been some recent advancements in the technology that are allowing for some changes. Motorcycle LED lights are much brighter, burn longer, use less electricity, and if needed they can come in various colors or changing colors as well.

While it might not be legal to drive a bike with say a yellow headlight as opposed to a white one. That does not stop bike owners from adding multicolored headlights for show bikes or just for fun. Because the LED technology is much different than the incandescent technology it allows for various color changing headlights with just the flick of a switch.

The reason they are safer is because other vehicles are able to see the bike from farther away now. When the red lights of the bike's tail are so bright that you can tell it is a motorcycle that means that you, as a car driver, will take the appropriate action to avoid hitting the bike. This was always a problem before LED.

This is also an issue when considering rookie drivers. There are more and more bike registrations taking place every year. As the weather continues to warm for the summer months people like to bring out their bikes. People who do not have one but have always wanted one are finding that friendly financing is making them easier to buy.

It has been shown over the years that most accidents involving motorcycles occur when the other vehicle could not see the bike soon enough or sometimes not at all. When that happens the car or truck does not allow enough space for the cycle and ends up hitting it. It does not take much either. Sometimes a simple little tap can send the bike in another directions.

As they became a safer option on the road more and more people started to become riders. People who often wanted one but stayed away from them because of their danger factor were not convinced that they were safe enough to drive. Of course the added advantage of increased gas mileage also helped because gas prices were on the rise. When you could triple the miles driven versus a car it made perfect sense to ride a motorcycle to work.

Once these become a standard in the manufacturing process the insurance rates will likely go back to a normal average but for right now it remains a benefit. Which is fine with most riders because they want the safety just as much as anybody else does. This also allows for more customization as mentioned earlier.

Some people have enjoyed using the adaptability of these motorcycle led lights to have them installed in various shapes. This way when the tail light is activated it will spell out a couple letters or show a design to the owners liking. This has become very popular over the last couple of years and more and more bikes are including it as a standard as well.
