How to go about car mechanics especially for women

By George Dodson

One might question the reputation car mechanics possess when women take their cars to have them repaired. Mechanics seem to be with the attitude that states that females do not have much information that males have about cars. The above is not to mean that all mechanics possess this attitude but a big numbers does and this is of heavy concern. What can women do to upset this trend? How can women avoid been taken advantage of by mechanics.

There is a strategy that you can employ as a woman when dealing with mechanics. Foremost, you must be in the know. Go through your car manual get in the know of how your car runs. Become familiar with how often you change the fluids, how to operate the controls, and other information vital to keep your machine running.

The second part of the strategy is understanding what you can do yourself. There is a lot of money to be saved by taking simple things at hand like checking your head and tail lights, keeping fluid levels where they should be and also changing your wiper blades and what have you. It is apparent that taking these actions at hand keeps you away from your mechanic. You can also get to save a lot of money if you are dealing with an hourly charging mechanic.

As a woman, if you have to deal with a mechanic make sure that mechanic is reliable. Check into the mechanic you'e considering. Are there any trouble reports associated with their business? Ask your friends and relatives were the best place to go to get quality work at reasonable prices, without being ripped off. Stay loyal to the mechanic who has proven that he does not want to rip you off. Adverts might draw you elsewhere but it is best to stay where you are treated well.

When it' time to visit a mechanic, make sure that you understand completely what the problem is with your car and some of the ways to fix it. This information can be accessed from the internet or perusing through the special manual that came with your car. Your mechanic will think twice before ripping you off if you go to him with this information. You only need to mouth the words "I think it' probably something bad." As this gives the mechanic the go ahead for a potential rip off.

Ensure that your mechanic points out the problem with your car once you make a point visiting him. Make the mechanic aware In cases where you do not understand that you are keen on finding it out. Usually, an honest mechanic will be willing to show you the problem with your car. The situation is most especially true when you show some knowledge on the problem. At times, you might know how the problem your car has but unwilling to take care of it.
