The Right Method To Clean Hankook Tires

By Miles R. Rau

There are a number of popular tire brands, including Hankook Tires, that make all kinds of sizes and styles of car tires. The aim of these tire makers is to make not just common sizes and tread designs but also custom sizes and elaborate treads that are better for off road driving or high speed handling. No matter what vehicle you are using, you certainly want the vehicle, the wheels, and the tires to all look their best. There are many methods through which you can approach the maintenance and cleaning of your tires and wheels, but you want to be sure that you are following the manufacturer's recommendations and that you do not accidentally harm the finish of your rims.

Hankook Tires and other brands ought to be cleaned with soft brushes that will not enter or weaken the soft rubber points of the tires' sidewalls. The outer parts of the tires are particularly susceptible to damage and thus you want to be extra careful when going over these areas with your scrub brush. As for the cleaning products you use, a simple mixture of soap and water will work fine even though some folks prefer to purchase a special tire cleaning solution available in most auto parts stores. Tire makers do recommend, though, that you use a tire cream on your wheels after drying them in order to keep them looing great and to protect the sidewalls from damage.

Even though it is important to maintain your Hankook Tires and rims clean you do not want to use strong chemical cleaning agents on rims with a painted finish. Depending on the way the wheel was produced and the kind of finish that is on it, caustic chemicals could permanently damage them by stripping off the finish. The finish of your car's doors, hood, and panels are similar to those of painted rims so use the same cleaning agents and scrub brushes that you would for the rest of the vehicle.

Chrome plated wheels look fantastic but are also rather delicate and must be cleaned properly. One good method to keep your chrome rims from getting damaged is to wax them after each cleaning since this creates a protective coating.

You are not obligated to put a lot of effort into cleaning and maintaining your Hankook Tires, but even a little effort accomplishes a lot. Before you use any new sponges, brushes, or cleaning products, confirm that they will not harm your tires or wheels.
